Today run by Mr Bubuteishvili, Honorary Consul of Croatia, the Sarajishjvili house was founded in 1884 by David Sarajishvili, aristocrat and prominent philanthropist Georgian public figure at the time. The company opened its first manufacture in Tbilisi, the very first of its kind in the Russian empire.

The founder received his education in St. Petersburg, Munich, Heidelberg, Hohenheim, Halle and finally, the School of Viticulture in France. He was delivered the titles of Doctor of Chemistry and Philosophy. Born in the cradle of wine (i.e Georgia), David Sarajishvili realized that the soil, the climate and the indigenous grape varieties of Georgia were the perfect combination to produce the most exquisite brandy-wines.

The Official Supplier to the Emperor’s Court
In 1913, Sarajishvili was granted the honorific status of “The Official Supplier to the Emperor’s Court” in 1889, and reached the Imperial Palace, where the brandy was served to the emperors. The network started afterwards to expand throughout the entire Russian empire but also in the western parts of the world.
